JANESVILLE — A 26-year-old man from Winnebago, Ill., died in a two-vehicle head-on crash Sunday night on state Highway 81, just east of County Highway T, in the town of Avon.
According to a release, the Rock County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office responded to a report of a crash about 10:50 p.m. in which a Nissan Sentra driven by the driver from Winnebago, Ill. was eastbound on state Highway 81 when he was struck head-on by a Ford F350 driven by a 30-year-old man from Marion, Iowa.
The driver of the Ford was westbound on State Highway 81, crossed the center line and went into the opposite lane of traffic. The driver of the Ford attempted to correct but was unable to do so and crashed into the Sentra.
The driver of the Sentra was pronounced dead at the scene. The occupants of the Ford were treated at local hospitals for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
The Rock County Medical ExaminerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office, Rock County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office Crash Reconstruction Team, Rock County Highway Shop, Green County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office, City of Evansville Police Department, and Brodhead Fire/EMS all assisted with the incident.
The names of those involved have not been released.
The investigation is continuing.
