TOWN OF AVON — The Rock County Medical Examiner has released the name of an Illinois man who was killed in a head-on crash on state Highway 81 in the town of Avon Monday night.
Alec Z. Hoffman, 26, of Winnebago, Ill., was killed when the Nissan Sentra he was driving was struck head-on shortly before 11 p.m. Monday by a Ford F350 driven by a 30-year-old man from Marion, Iowa. The identity of the Iowa man has not been released.
At the time of the crash, Hoffman was traveling eastbound on State Highway 81. The driver of the Ford F350 was driving westbound, crossed the center line and went into the opposite lane of traffic. The driver of the Ford attempted to correct but was unable to and crashed into the Sentra.
Hoffman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The occupants of the Ford were treated at area hospitals for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Rock County Medical ExaminerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office, Rock County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office Crash Reconstruction Team, Rock County Highway Shop, Green County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office, City of Evansville Police Department and Brodhead Fire Department assisted with the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
