WEST ALLIS, Wis. — Klondike Cheese Co. in Monroe and Decatur Dairy in Brodhead have taken top honors in the 2025 Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Products Contest.
Dairy manufacturers from throughout the state submitted over 500 entries for the contest, which took place June 19 at the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The contest featured over 50 classes for cheese, sour cream, butter, yogurt, milk and custard.
Klondike Cheese Co. placed among the top three award winners in a host of categories including for its brick and muenster cheeses, tomato and basil feta cheese, reduced fat feta cheese, yogurt, havarti cheese, and low fat sour cream dips.
Decatur Dairy placed among the top three award winners in several categories including for its muenster cheese, jalapeno harvarti, dill havarti, white cheese curds and white dill garlic-flavored cheese curds.
The 2025 Grand Master Cheesemaker, Grand Champion Butter, Grand Champion Yogurt, Grand Champion Sour Cream, Grand Champion Milk and Grand Champion Custard awards will be announced at the Blue Ribbon Dairy Products Auction on Thursday, August 7 at The Wisconsin State Fair Park.
The auction is a fundraiser for the Wisconsin State Fair Dairy Promotion Board. Auction proceeds fund scholarships for students pursuing dairy-related degrees and support the boardÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ educational exhibits at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
Awards were presented on June 19 for an array of hard and soft cheeses, cheese curds, and shredded and crumbled cheese, as well as for cheeses made from goat and sheep milk, spreadable cheeses and reduced fat cheese. A variety of categories of butter, yogurt, drinkable cultured products, sour cream fluid milk and custard were also judged.
