ORFORDVILLE — The Janesville Legion Post 205 17-under hitters had a tough time getting going against OrfordvilleÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Senior Legion team, Post 209.
Janesville managed just three hits and lost 3-1 at Parkview High SchoolÃÛèÖÊÓƵ varsity field Monday afternoon where the temperature hung in the high 80s.
“It was tough today,†Post 205 coach Brady Sendelbach said. “Their pitcher did a really nice job, but again we were just kind of out on our front foot, leaning a little bit, rolling over on a lot of stuff instead of just maybe trying to drive the ball.â€

Sendelbach said Leeder and Hoium pitched well.
“Defense didn’t necessarily keep the ball in front at all times, but the pitchers came in and filled it up, which is all we can really ask for them to do,†Sendelbach said.
Orforville picked up runs in the first, third and fourth inning. JanesvilleÃÛèÖÊÓƵ most promising offensive inning came in the fourth.
CraigÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Aden Stuck and EdgertonÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Brett Appel started off the inning with back-to-back singles. Appel scored when he stole third and scored on an errant throw. But a fielderÃÛèÖÊÓƵ choice, strikeout and fly out helped Post 209 get out the inning.
With the loss, Janesville falls to 0-2.
“We’re still working through some things early in the year here, †Sendelbach said, “just trying to get a feel here for everything, getting the guys moving and back into the swing of things. Not out best outing, offensively.
“We have a lot of room to grow,†Appel said. “Hopefully we will start picking it up soon.â€
