The 2025 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association state track and field championships are set to begin on Friday and will continue through Saturday at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the UW-La Crosse campus in La Crosse.
Janesville Craig has senior Abi Anderson competing in the 1600-meter dash and the 3200-meter dash, senior Chloe Hedman will be competing in high jump, and its girls’ 4x800 team consisting of sophomore Zoey Ziegler, sophomore Olivia Schober, freshman Lucia Coleman and senior Julianna Moran will be competing as well.

Representing Janesville Parker is junior Harper Brandenburg in the 400-meter dash and junior Gavin Meier in the discus.
Leading up to the state meet, Craig coach Brandon Miles said, “training is going well.â€
“When peaking, we want to lower overall volume but keep the intensity high up so kids don’t feel flat for their events,†Miles said.
Miles also said, “we like to use the phrase, ‘the hay is in the barn’.†All the training work has already happened. Now itÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ time to trust yourself and your fitness and compete to the best of your ability.â€
At the Sun Prairie sectional, Anderson finished second in the both the 1600-meter race and the 3200-meter race with times of 5:16.53 and 11:39.77, respectively.
Anderson said she was excited about competing at state.
“This was the goal since last year,†she said at sectionals. “I’m really hoping to do something cool in the two mile at state.â€
CedarburgÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Charlize-Trinity McKenzie has the top seed time in the 1600 with a time of 4:52.90. In the 3200, itÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ SlingerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Piper Schuster, with a time of 10:58.50.
In the high jump, Hedman had a mark of 5-4 and the Cougars’ 4x800 team ran a 10:01.40 to place third. The top high jump seed is DeForestÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Ally Armstrong (5-5) and the top seed in the 4x800 is Pewaukee (9:37.84).
Janesville Parker coach, Kat Reilly, said Brandenburg has been maintaining her speed work and her adenosine triphosphate system, that helps sprinters be more explosive while conserving her legs.
Reilly said BrandenburgÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ goal is to first make the top 10 prelims to advance to finals, in addition to enjoying the moment.
Brandenburg ran a 57.96 in the 400-meter race at the Sun Prairie East sectionals to finish second. The top seed is in BrandenburgÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ heat is ArrowheadÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Avery Bott (55.79). The top time in each heat plus the next seven best times move onto finals.
At that same sectional, Meier set a new Parker school record in discus, with a mark of 166-05. The top mark in discus belongÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ to Hunter Sprangers of Kimberly (188-11).
Orfordville Parkview will also have an athlete competing.
Tommaso Gobbi will be competing in the Division 3 triple jump, after qualifying with a jump of 44-feet, 1-inch. The top seed is Broc Billington of Weyauwega (47-05.5).
