JANESVILLE --- The gunman in a reported domestic-related shooting on Tuesday at the Aspen Square Apartments in Janesville was one of three people who died at the scene, the Janesville Police Department has confirmed.
In a release Friday, the police department said that “after thorough evidence collection and analysis, the preliminary investigation determined that one individual shot the three others before taking their own life.â€
The Rock County Medical Examiner, meanwhile on Friday, released the names of the 3 people who died.
Julia K. Cvicker, 25, of Janesville; Jahvarius J. Wicks, 21 of Janesville; and Scott M. Roberts, 55, of Janesville were all pronounced dead at the scene, the medical examiner said.
Janesville police said that due to privacy concerns and the ongoing investigation, they were releasing no further information at this time, including which of the three was the gunman.
“This heartbreaking event has profoundly affected the families of the deceased, who are now going through the unimaginable loss of their loved ones,†Lt. Jennifer Seeger of the Janesville Police Department said in the release.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are mourning. We emphasize the importance of respecting the privacy of the families during this tragic time. At this time, no other information will be released. Thank you for your understanding and support.â€
A fourth person who was shot survived and remains hospitalized in critical condition, the police department said.
The shooting “stems from a domestic relationship between two of the individuals involved,†the release also said.
The police department reiterated, as it said initially on Tuesday, that no children were in the apartment at the time although children were in the building, located at 2605 N. Pontiac Dr.
According to the latest information from the police department, the Rock County 911 Communications center received a call of gunshots inside an apartment at about 10:45 a.m.
Officers who arrived on the scene found one unresponsive adult with a visible gunshot wound in the doorway of the apartment, the release said, noting that access doors to individual apartments are in the interior of the building. Three adults with visible gunshots wounds were found further inside the apartment.
One individual was treated at the scene and transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other three were pronounced dead at the scene.
With a search warrant, police secured and searched the apartment complex, uncovering evidence that included a firearm found near one of the deceased individuals.
The Rock County Medical ExaminerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office is working alongside the Janesville Police Department on the ongoing investigation.
The names of those involved, including those who died and the person who survived, have not been released.
The investigation is continuing.
