TOWN OF SHARON — One person was killed when a semi and an SUV collided in the town of Sharon last Thursday.
The accident occurred at the intersection of U.S. Highway 14 and County Highway K, two miles southeast of Darien and about five miles northwest of Walworth.
An investigation showed the driver of the SUV was eastbound on Highway 14 and tried to turn left on County K. The semi was westbound on Highway 14. The driver of the SUV turned left in front of the semi at the intersection.
The semi driver collided with the front passengerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ side area of the SUV, according to the Walworth County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office. The driver of the SUV was not wearing a seatbelt.
When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, the semi was in the ditch on the westbound side of Highway 14 north of Highway K with front-end damage with the SUV facing north and pushing up along the driverÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ side of the semi. Neither vehicle had passengers and were occupied only by drivers, according to the sheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ office.
The driver of the semi was transported from the scene with injuries. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the driver of the SUV is being withheld, but according to the sheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ office, is a 47-year-old Wisconsin man.
Highway 14 was closed between County K and S&D Town Line Road during the investigation. According to the sheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ office, no citations or criminal charges are expected. The crash is under investigation by the Walworth County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office and Wisconsin State Patrol.
Assisting were the Town of Sharon Fire and EMS, Town of Darien Fire and EMS, Mercy MD-1, City of Delavan Police, Village of Walworth Police, Wisconsin State Patrol, Walworth County Medical ExaminerÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Office, AM Towing and PurcellÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ Towing, as well as “several good samaritans,†according to the sheriffÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ office.
