WHITEWATER — Two people have been arrested on drug and fraud charges in an investigation involving multiple local, state and federal agencies.
Agencies involved in the securing of a warrant and in the related investigation, included the Walworth County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Office Drug Enforcement Unit, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Marshals, the FBI, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Whitewater Police Department and UW-Whitewater police.
According to a release from the Walworth County SheriffÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Office, a drug bust at 645 E. North St. on July 17, and the investigation, included controlled buys of fraudulent documents and illegal controlled substances.
Freddys Manual Gaitan Ruiz, 24, was arrested on charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place, delivery of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, delivery of cocaine as a party to a crime, possession with intent to deliver cocaine within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of drug paraphernalia and child neglect.
Anner Amilkar Bustamante Talavera, 30, was arrested on charges of maintaining a drug trafficking place as a party to a crime, delivery of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor bail jumping. Talavera had active warrants and had been out on bond on cases in Walworth and Fond du Lac counties.
While searching the residence, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and a firearm was found and seized, according to the release. The sheriffÃÛèÖÊÓƵ office did not disclose the type of firearm seized. Law enforcement officers also found a computer and printers used to manufacture fraudulent identification and Social Security cards, as well as other fraudulent documents, according to the release.
The Walworth County District AttorneyÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Office said in the release that additional charges could result from the still-active investigation.
